The Isle of Man is located in western Europe in the Irish Sea between Great Britain and Ireland.  The Isle of Man is only about 3 times the size of Washington D.C., US.  The climate of the Isle of Man ranges from cool summers to mild winters.  The skies are overcast about 1/3 of the time. The highest point on the Isle of Man is 621 meters tall and is called Snaefell.  All of the land on the Isle of Man is used for permanent pastures, forests, mountains, towns, and/or healthland.  As seen in the map below there are two smaller islands to the south of the Isle of Man. One is the Calf of Man which is a bird sanctuary, and the other is Chicken Rock, which is pretty much a large rock. 

The population of the Isle of Man, estimated in July 2003, is 74,261 people. The two major groups of population are Manx and Briton. The Manx people are the original settlers of the island and have a Norse-Celtic descent.  The major religions on the Isle of Man are Anglican, Roman Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, and the Society of Friends. The two languages spoken on the Isle of Man are English and Manx Gaelic (Celtic) language (which almost disappeared but is now being revived).

The Isle of Man is dependant on the crown of Britain, but its local government is a parliamentary democracy with 24 local authorities-each with its own elections.  There are two constitutions on the Isle of Man. One is The Isle of Man Constitution Act, 1961, which doesnt embody the older constitution called Manx Constitution.  The legal system on the Isle of Man is English common law and the Manx statute.  There are 3 major political groups for the Isle of Man which are the Man Labor Party, Alliance for Progressive Government, and the Man Nationalist Party.  But most members of the part actually are Independents.

Even though the Isle of Man is small, there is an expected 51,000 telephone lines in use.  The telephone system used on the Isle of Man is a landline, mobile cellular phone system, and telefax.  For international calls the Isle of Man must use fiber-optic cables, a microwave radio relay, a satellite earth station, or a submarine cable. There are no broadcast stations located on the Isle of Man because all TV broadcasts are received via satellite or directly from Britain.

There is a total of 60 km of railroads on the Isle of Man, and 800 km of paved highways. The harbors of the Isle of Man are the cities of Peel, Castletown, and Ramsey. Along with the Capital of the Isle of Man Douglas. There is one airport on the Isle of Man.

All defense and military problems are handled by the UK and the Isle of Man has no International Disputes with nations recently.  The Isle of Man is only 572 square kilometers large.
