Antarctica is drier than the Sahara Desert.  It hasnt rained or snowed in over a million years.  This makes it the driest continent.  It is a continent because unlike the Arctic, underneath 90% of the worlds ice, there is land!  Antarctica is in fact the worlds 6th largest continent.

Who owns Antarctica?  Well, over 39 countries do.  But because of the 2nd Antarctic Treaty, Madrid Protocol, mining, drilling, and military bases are forbidden on Antarctica.  Only things with a scientific purpose such as studying penguins or paleontology are allowed on this frozen desert.  No one studies polar bears though because the live in the Arctic!
