The
Teutons were in their highest status of power from 919 to 1250 AD. The Teutons
origins go as far back as the crowning of Charlemagne as the Holy Roman Emperor during 800AD.
Upon this Frankish mans death his empire was split into three different parts which became two separate lands. France was one and Germany was the other land.
The crown as Holy Roman Emperor stayed in Charlemagnes family until roughly 1000AD.
In 963 Otto I became emperor of Germany and had a large conquest, a problem was that most of his new lands were cut
off by mountains and such. The Germans who had once been barbaric before Charlemagne
conquered them were now very well suited for a civilized empire. The Teutons
were technically the best German fighters and were the inspiration for many crusades.
Soon though the Teutonic empire collapsed and the older Italian Poliss were formed together to create the Lombard league.
