Here are the main types of government, by the end can you tell which one the U.S. is run by?

Anarchy

  Anarchy is a situation when there is no government.   An example of this is when a Civil War breaks out in a country and the government collapses, then all rebel sides are trying to take over.  Anarchists think government is bad thing.

Capitalist

  In a capitalist, or free-market country people own their business and property.  People also can buy services for private use, an example of that would be healthcare.  Most Capitalists provide their country with their own education, health, and welfare services.

Communism

  In a communism country the government owns farms, buildings, properties, and freedoms. But in return they get healthcare, welfare, and education funded by the government.

Democracy

  In a democracy the people choose their leaders, and anyone able to vote, at a certain age, can vote for a say in whos the leader.

Dictatorship

  In a country with dictatorship the people dont get to vote for their leader, usually the leader appoints himself, and may use force to keep his position.

  In a Military Dictatorship the military rules.

Federal Government

  In this type of government one central government shares power with many smaller government with-in the country. (Ex.) King, Governors, Mayors, City council.

Monarchy

  A monarchy has a King or Queen.  In some traditional monarchys the monarch has all of the control. But a constitutional monarchy, like the UK, also has a democratic government that limits the monarchys control.

Regional or Local

  This is a government that controls a smaller area with-in a country.  Some local governments have very limited powers and are mainly controlled by the central government.  Others are powerful enough to make their own laws, like the states in the United States of America.

Republic

  A republic is a government that has no monarchys and their leader is usually elected.

Revolutionary Government

  If a governments current type of Government is overthrown by force, the new ruling group is sometimes called a Revolutionary Government.

 

Totalitarian State

  This is a country with only one political party.  People are forced to do what the government tells them to do, and sometimes they are not allowed to leave the country.

Transitional

  A country which is changing from one type of government to another has a transitional government. An example would be, if a dictator dies, the country could become a republic. These changes between government can take several years to finalize. Afghanistan  is currently a Transitional Government.
