people in the 2000 census. Riverside lies on the Santa Ana River.
Riverside, along with San Bernardino and Ontario, forms the metropolitan complex east of
Los Angeles (California). Riverside was settled in the 1870s, and was incorporated in 1883. Riverside soon became known for its citrus
industry. Today Riverside's economy focuses on manufacturing and educational activies.
