Cedar Rapids is a city located in eastern Iowa, in the United States of America. In the 2000 census it had a population
of 120,758 people.
Cedar Rapids was originally called Rapids City, it was first settled during the 1830s next to rapids of the Cedar River,
a source of waterpower. With the coming of railroads, Cedar Rapids developed as a grain and livestock market.
Cedar Rapids neighbored Kingston. Kingston was annexed in 1870 by Cedar Rapids, and Kenwood Park was later annexed by
Cedar Rapids in 1926! Its manufactures include electronic equipment, farm machinary, and an up and coming bio-technology
industry. Cedar Rapids was home of the artist Grant Wood.
