The Tale of Jack. Ever wonder where the jack-o-lantern came from? Well I'll tell you. A long time ago, there was a man named jack. He was neither evil or good, but a horrible trickster. He would do things so annoying, that everyone hated him. When he died, God refused to take him to heaven. But the devil refused to let him into hell. There was a terrible argument between them. Finally, They decided to doom Jack for all his pranks to wander across the moors forever. But it was dark at night, and jack couldn't see his way. Suddenly he stumbled! Turning to see what he had tripped on, in the gloom he stared at a pumpkin. Slowly, Jack began to smile. This was a way he could see and frighten people at the same time! He took out his knife and went to work. An hour later, The object he held no longer resembled a pumpkin. A ghastly leering face that glowed eerily was in its place. jack grinned, and headed towards the nearest village. And that is the story of the jack-o-lantern.
