Mesa is a city in south-central Arizona.  (The population of Mesa in 2000 was 396,375 people).  Mesa is located near Phoenix, Arizona.

Mesa was actually settled in 1978 by Mormons whom used the ancient Hohokam Indian canal for irrigation.  Mesa was incorporated as a town in 1883 and a city in 1930.  The Salt River reclamation project enabled the city of Mesa to grow fruit and raise other crops.  Mesa grew rapidly, like Phoenix, after World War 2 through industrialization.  Today Mesa contains Mesa Community College and Mesa Southwest Museum!
