This article is to inform you about cosmic string(s), what they are, do they exsist, and more.

A cosmic string, according to current theories, is a giant vibrating strand or a closed loop of material that was created at an early stage of the universe, possibly after the universe was first created.  Cosmic strings are thought to have been made by gravitational shifts in the early universe (immediately following the creation of space in the Big Bang theory).  Cosmic strings are thought to be like creases, left from anotherwise smooth transition from the initial phases of universal evolution.  Some people also copnsider cosmic strings to be like wrinkles in the configuration of matter, radiation, and empty space.  Cosmic strings are thought to only be an inch thick, and thinner than even a single hair.  But these strands, or rings, are believed to contain the mass of thousands of galaxies!  Cosmic strings are also thought to carry an extemely strong electrical current.

Cosmic strings were once believed to be very common when the universe was once created, but today most of them have probably decayed.  This means that only a few of the longest cosmic strings may be in exsistence today!

Cosmic strings are thought to act like a barrier between different regions of spacetime.  An example of this, that would prove the exsistence of cosmic strings, is to see a galaxy that ended abruptly in a straight edge, signalling that the other part of the galaxy had been sucked into the cosmic string, or exsisted in another time or place.

If the Milky Way galaxy were to get too close, or run into, a cosmic string, the galaxy (which includes our entire solar system), would probably be sucked/pulled into the cosmic string.  No one should worry about an abrupt ending though, for the exsistence of a cosmic string still needs to be proven!

The exsistence of a cosmic string could be proved/confirmed by the Hubble telescope today!  People (scientists especially) are viewing many of the photos taken by the Hubble Space Telescope in hopes of finding these deadly cosmic strings.  And a cosmic string CAN NOT support life.
