The Coral Sea Islands are scattered over a million square kilometers.  The Coral Sea Islands were declared a territory of Australia in 1969.  The islands are uninhabited, except for a few (usually three to four) meteorologists on the Willis Islets. Automated weather stations, beacons/lights, and small buildings occupy the other islands, atolls, and islets.
 
The Coral Sea Islands are in Oceania, northeast of Austrtalia. The Coral Islands are less than three square miles in land area, and include neumerous small islands and reefs.  The climate of the Coral Sea Islands in tropical, with the terrain being sandy and made of coral reefs and islands (or cays).  The lowest point on the Coral Sea Islands is at 0 meters, for it is a the Pacific Ocean, the highest point on the Coral Sea Islands is on Cato Island, at an unnamed location, which is six meters high!  The land on the Coral Sea Islands is 100% other, for it is mostly just grass or scrub covered.  The main danger of the Coral Sea Islands is occasional tropical cyclones.  The main environmental issue of the islands is the fact there is no permanet fresh water resources.  The Coral Sea Islands is an important area for the nesting of birds and turtles!
 
The only people on the Coral Sea Islands is a staff of three to four meteorologists at a meteorological station.
 
The conventional long name of the Coral Sea Islands is the Coral Sea Islands Territory, the conventional short name is the Coral Sea Islands.  The Coral Sea Islands are a territory of Australia, which administers them from Canberra by the Deparment of the Environment, Sport, and Territories.  The legal system is very simple on the Coral Sea Islands, which applicable, Australian laws apply.  There is no diplomatic representation from the US or to the US for the Coral Sea Islands are a territory of Australia. The flag used for the islands is the same flown in Australia.
 
The economy of the Coral Sea Islands is virtually nonexsistant, for there is no real economic activities.  The main communication from automatic weather stations on many of the isles and reefs which relay data directly to the mainland.  Defence of the islands is responsibility of Australia, which has the Royal Australian Navy visit often. Australia has control over the activites of visitors on the islands.
 
There are no international disputes currently involving the Coral Sea Islands.
